Lately, I have been playing with non-symmetrical designs.
Until recently everything I designed was symmetrical, all the elements, colors, etc. balanced with each other.

These gunmetal AB beads are a mixture of three distinct shapes, however while the splatter beads are off-center, I just noticed they are a symmetrical progression (3,4,5)!

The necklace to the right was an early experiment. I already want to change it. I want the circles and rectangles coming off both shoulders and move the focal bead higher.
This is a work in transition.

So, now I am trying not to balance my designs. I mix shapes, sizes, colors. Design elements are deliberately off-center.

I told you this was a work in transition. Well, here it is; shapes coming off the shoulders, the focal bead can be worn on the left or right. This I like a lot better.

Gunmetal or Hematite Gray is a challenging color to use.
It was just the right color for these spatter beads

Note the three different styles of beads, round faceted, faceted puffy spacer, and cube, used in the necklace.
Yet, it was also an excellent base color for the "Cat  Goddess" and the accompanying necklace.
It worked well, in conjunction with a variety of colors of dagger beads.

This necklace is spiral rope, using gunmetal three cut seed and tile beads and dagger beads.
The bezel for this cameo is all gunmetal three cuts. The cameo itself is gunmetal plastic.

Like black it goes with almost anything and comes in a wide variety of shapes. It provided a dramatic backdrop for this Aragonite star. The gunmetal complements the champagne two cut beads very nicely...

                                                        or tiny little bead flowers.

Black is an intriguing color by itself or in combination with other colors.
It is perceived as the color of elegance, mourning, sobriety, simplicity, drama.
It complements, accentuates, draws the eye.
Black can be the focal point or the background.
